What
is FYCC? |
 |
The
FYCC was founded in 1988 in accordance with the 1987 Natural Resources,
Conservation Reclamation & Use Act which was originally sponsored
by the Florida Department of Natural Resources. “How appropriate!”
says FYCC Past Executive Director , Bart Colom, “Since our children
are our most precious natural resource, we must reclaim, conserve
and mitigate them as well as the beauty of our state and it’s
highway system!” These days the program negotiates contract
work with Florida Department of Transportation and others.
Young men and women alike participate in this rigorous and
demanding program as a means to a brighter future for themselves
as they give bask to society a cleaner, safer and more beautiful
environment at the same time.
Many FYCC participants want to go to college but couldn't even
finish high school due to family problems, language barriers, and lack
of self-esteem and variety of other reasons. "FYCC makes this
desire a reality,"
